About Mount Yarrowyck Nature Reserve

The Mount Yarrowyck Nature Reserve is located 25 kilometres north west of Uralla along Thunderbolt's Way. The reserve sits within the traditional lands of the Anaiwan people, the main Aboriginal tribe of the New England High Country, where it protects an Aboriginal rock art site and its surrounding natural environment. A return walk of three kilometres along an undemanding walking trail leads visitors past the rock art site which is believed to be between 150 to 500 years old. The site is known today to local Aboriginal people, and is considered an important landmark of their cultural heritage. When visiting the site, visitors are requested to remain behind the timber barrier and refrain from touching the paintings. The car park provides ample room to manoeuvre caravans and campervans. Facilities include barbecues, tables, rubbish pit and toilet. Overnight camping is not permitted.
