An Italian slow food locanda in the charming historic village of Carcoar, NSW. Bringing a little of the soul of regional Italy to the heart of regional Australia.
This is not an Italian restaurant as you may know it. Antica Australis is an Ciociarian 'locanda'. A locanda is a local, casual dining establishment accessible and enjoyed by everyone. It's a very traditional regional Italian concept of an inn, designed to provide meals for travellers looking to rest and revive their spirits.
It’s a place for locals to feel at home and where visitors are warmly welcomed. This is the authentic taste of an Italian village on top of a mountain, without having to go to Italy. Instead, you get to pause, rest and restore in one of Australia’s most gorgeous and perfectly-preserved 19th century villages – Carcoar on the Belubula River.
